Ubisoftが，ミリタリーFPSシリーズの新作「Rainbow 6: Patriots」の制作を発表。発売予定は2013年

　Ubisoft Entertainmentは，ミリタリーFPSシリーズの最新作「Rainbow 6: Patriots」の制作を発表した。対応機種はPCおよびPlayStation 3，Xbox 360で，2013年にリリースされる予定だ。


　「Rainbow Six」シリーズは，「Battlefield」や「Call of Duty」より前の，1998年に第1作がリリースされた歴史の長い作品で，ベストセラー作家として知られるトム・クランシー氏の小説をベースに，国際的な対テロ部隊“レインボー”の活躍を描いたものだ。タイトルにあるRainbow 6とは，部隊の隊長であるジョン・クラーク少将のコードネーム。

　世界各地でテロ組織と戦ってきたレインボーだが，今回の舞台はアメリカ合衆国。政府に不満を持つ極右主義者が結成した“トゥルーパトリオッツ”と呼ばれるグループが，ニューヨークを皮切りにテロ活動を開始するというストーリーになっている。


　プレスリリースによれば，プレイヤーはストーリーのさまざまな局面で倫理的な判断を求められ，その結果がゲームに影響を与えるモラル要素が存在するほか，Co-opやKinectへの対応なども予定されている。ゲームの詳細については，2011年11月8日に北米で発売されるゲーム誌「Game Informer」で明らかにされるとのことだ。
